tap2nfc works exclusively with NTAG213, NTAG215, and NTAG216 chips (NXP NTAG21x family). Any other chip type is rejected immediately during scanning to prevent accidental writes.
This warning appears on an Inventory tag that was previously programmed. After an Unassign operation the registry status reverts to Inventory, but the physical chip still holds its NDEF data and password protection.
Use Reset Tag to erase the chip and remove protection before re-assigning and re-programming it.
Phase A reads the tag UID and fetches the registry record so you can review the assignment details before any write occurs. Phase B performs the actual write, password protection, and verification — all in a single NFC session. The two-phase design prevents accidental writes to the wrong tag.
If Phase B is interrupted, the tag may be in a partially-written state. Use Reset Tag to erase and restore the chip to factory defaults, then start the programming flow again from the tag detail screen.
The tag's stored password does not match what the app is trying to use. This can happen if the tag was programmed by a different system or if the registry record is out of sync. Contact your system administrator to investigate the tag record.
Unassign is a registry-only operation — it clears the tenant, location, and table assignments and reverts the status to Inventory. The physical chip is not touched.
Reset physically erases the NDEF data and removes password protection from the chip, then (for Programmed/Deployed tags) updates the registry status to Inventory.
Sessions are valid for 8 hours. After expiry, open the app and sign in again with your super-admin credentials. Token refresh is not supported — a full re-login is required.
Go to Settings → Account and scroll to the API section, or ask your system administrator. The URL is stored only on your device in UserDefaults and is never shared with third parties.
Find the tag in the tag list and tap it. Status must be Assigned.
Opens the programming sheet and starts Phase A.
